Armenia’s new power unit to meet int’l security standards – PM

The new nuclear power unit will meet international security standards, Armenian Prime Minister said.

“All the risks including the environmental ones will be considered during the power unit construction,” Tigran Sargsyan said at a meeting with members of the Club of editors-in-chief of CIS, Baltic states and Georgia.

“Today, great importance is attached to nuclear security, considering last year’s Fukushima disaster,” he said, adding that chemical risks are higher than nuclear ones.

Prime Minister Sargsyan further stressed the need for taking balanced decisions in considering security standards and public demands, RIA Novosti reported.
