AZERI EXPERT: NO PROGRESS IN ARMENIA-AZERBAIJAN DIALOGUE
There was no progress over the settlement of the conflict at the meeting of the Armenian and Azeri Presidents, stated head of the Conflictology Department of the Institute of Democracy and Peace, expert Arif Yunusov, reported the 525 Baku newspaper. However, in his words, officials of Azerbaijan and Armenia state progress is available at the talks. In the expert's opinion, no abrupt changes in the Nagorno Karabakh settlement expected this year, as Azerbaijan prepares for parliamentary election. «The experience of the past years shows that all negotiations are suspended in the year of election,» he stated. Opinions that talks over the conflict settlement have broke the deadlock are groundless. «This method is used to divert the public from internal problems observed both in Azerbaijan and Armenia now,» he stated, adding that from the political point of view this should be considered normal.
