Moscow Emergencies Ministry officials uncovered a World War II artillery shell on Wednesday, November 28, the ministry’s press service said on Thursday, according to RIA Novosti.
Divers found the unexploded 152mm shell in the Moscow River, near the village of Metrostroi.
Police marked the spot with a buoy, adding that the shell is not a threat to nearby residents.
Ministry workers will extract and destroy the shell later on Thursday, the ministry said.
The find is the second this week of World War II-era ordnance in Moscow. On Monday, police uncovered an unexploded bomb on a construction site where a new stadium for Moscow’s FC Spartak is currently being built.
