Security has been tightened in the Pakistani capital Islamabad in the run-up to the “Million-Man March” that the local Islamists are due to start on January 14, The Voice of Russia reported.

Reinforced police and Interior Troop units have been deployed in the capital city to protect the parliament building, the residences of President and Prime Minister, as well as the buildings of key ministries.

The “March” is expected to begin in Lahore. When in Islamabad, the participants will set up an indefinite “camp of protest”.

The extremists have already warned they will launch a spate of terrorist attacks. The Islamists are pressing for a resignation of the national leadership, whom they believe are too secular.
