Witness on Case of Armenian Officer Murder Loses Memory
"The state of health of Azeri serviceman Anar Aliyev, who was taking course together with senior lieutenant Ramil Safarov, is rated as grave. Presently his memory is gradually getting worse. When doing his military service and jumping out of a helicopter at the height of 60 meters he fell into water. As result he caught hepatite that is hazardous for his life. According to Azeri lawyer Chingiz Aliyev, having graduated from the High Military Academy with honors Anar Aliyev undertook treatment in the Military Medical Academy in Gulhana, however he still experiences health problems, Day. Az reports.
To note, Anar Aliyev was absent from the September 27 court session on the case of Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan murder. As member of the International Bar Association, lawyer Nazeli Vardanyan stated, the defense produced rather contradictory explanations of his absence assuring that A. Aliyev will be present at the next session. However the Armenian lawyer sounded doubtful about such promise. In her words, accused Ramil Safarov tried to deny possible complicity of another Azeri officer Anar Aliyev in the murder, who had lived with Safarov during ten days before the crime. At that Nazeli Vardanyan noted that according to the testimony of the witnesses, when attempting to rush into Hayk Makuchyan's room Ramil Safarov was shouting out, "Come out, Armenian. We will kill you." This fact proves that the crime was planned jointly with A. Aliyev. Safarov however kept on insisting he did not scheme the murder. The next court session is scheduled for December 15.
To remind, February 19, 2004 Armenian Armed Forces officer Gurgen Margaryan, who was taking an English course within NATO Partnership for Peace program was brutally hacked to death by Azeri officer Ramil Safarov. The latter was accused with Article 116.2 of the Hungarian Criminal Code, which provides for a punishment of 10-15 years of deprivation of liberty or life imprisonment.
