Newsweek: Only Possible "Colored" Revolution in Azerbaijan Sanguineous
"Is Azerbaijan ripe for a revolution? Not yet. In the opinion of experts, Azerbaijan is not ready to strike Aliyev yet. Most probably other revolutions taken place in the region stirred up hopes in the Azeri opposition. However, Azeri opposition do not have opportunity to join the people, fully suppressed by fear. Thus a necessary condition - the power of the people - is absent," the Newsweek US journal writes. It cites Eurasia Group New York-based organization expert on Middle Asia Kaan Nazli, according to which "people held rallies in Georgia, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan for so long, that the security forces stopped taking any measures. We do not think Azerbaijani security forces are disposed in the same way." Irrespective of whether the coming election in Azerbaijan is free and fair or not, the only "colored" revolution that may take place in Azerbaijan in the near future is sanguineous," the article says.
