ERDB to Allot RA Banks 40 Million Euros in 2006-2007
As a contribution to the development of middle and small business the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (ERBD) in 2006-2007 will allot 40 million Euros to the Armenian banks, Head of the EBRD Yerevan Office Michael Weinstein informed. In his words, the Armenian economy is dynamically developing and entrepreneurs need credits at the current stage. He said that during the recent 2-3 years the ERDB has provided Anelik Bank, ACBA, Armeconombank and Inecobank with free credits totaling in 10 million Euros. According to Mr. Weinstein, in future the number of the banks will increase. To note, November 14 the USAID announced its contribution of $1.5 million to fund consultants providing expert technical advice to Armenian banks to help them improve their small business lending practices. According to U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Evans, the development of the middle and small business is very important for the countries with transitional economy, reported IA Regnum.
