Armenian Delegation Familiarized With Iran-Armenia Gas Pipeline Construction Works
November 11 head of the Armenian President Administration, Chairman of the Intergovernmental Commission for Coordination of the Armenian-Iranian ties Artashes Tumanyan departed for Iran on a formal visit. He is accompanied by Energy Minister Armen Movsesyan, Deputy FM Gegham Gharibjanyan and Armenian Ambassador to Iran Karen Nazaryan. Before arriving in Iran the delegation members watched the construction works of the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline in Syunik region of Armenia and also stopped at the Meghri checkpoint to get acquainted with the latest changes in the technical and service fields. On the same day the delegation crossed the Armenian-Iranian border. Artashes Tumanyan visited the free trade and economic zone of Araz to discuss the prospects of cooperation. November 12 in Tabriz Artashes Tumanyan met the newly appointed vice-governor of Eastern Atrpatakan state. The parties considered the existing trade and economic relations including cooperation in agriculture, tourism and implementation of joint investment programs. Accompanied by the vice-governor the delegation attended the Iranian part of the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline stretching for 113 km and also the monastery complex of St. Stephan, which is considered to be an Armenian historical treasure. On November 13 Artashes Tumanyan is scheduled to meet with the Iranian leadership and government members.
