Armenian Opposition Accused US Ambassador to Armenia in Complicity to "Referendum Gerrymander"
The Armenian Public Commission for Referendum Control has accused US Ambassador to Armenia John Evans in complicity to "referendum gerrymander." Copies of the letter sent to mer. Evans are submitted to embassies of EU member states, CE, OSCE, UN Armenian branches. "During the preparatory stage of the referendum, you and a number of CE officials violated laws of our state," the document says.

93 returned court verdicts by which all complaints of violations of the law, that had been addressed to the CEC, were also sent to J. Evans. Representative of the Public Commission for Referendum Control Ruben Torosyan hopes for democracy in spite of the accusations of the US Ambassador. "I hope you will get acquainted with the documents provided and will compare the actual situation over the referendum with the opinion published by the US State Department and European observers," the letter says.
