Olympic champion Yuri Vardanyan has agreed to assume the post of Armenian minister of sport and youth affairs.

In a conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, Mr. Vardanyan’s assistant Ani Hayrapetyan said the champion accepted the offer to occupy the post.

Mr Vardanyan was appointed as adviser to the president in 2009.

It was reported earlier that the acting sports minister Hrachya Rostomyan will quit.
