Tom Cruise to reprise role in "Mission: Impossible V"

Fierce and brave Ethan Hunt is confirmed to receive a new mission. The IMF agent depicter Tom Cruise has agreed to reprise his iconic role in "Mission: Impossible V". The 50-year-old actor, who recently starred in "Oblivion" alongside Olga Kurylenko, is also on board the upcoming action flick to serve as the producer, AceShowbiz said.

Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have not hired any screenwriter or helmer yet. However, Deadline reports that Christopher McQuarrie, who is recently confirmed to pen and direct "Ice Station Zebra" remake for Warner Bros., might be the frontrunner for the directing gig.

McQuarrie has a history with Cruise. The two first teamed up in 2008's "Valkyrie", a World War II tale which was set in Germany. They were later reunited in last year's "Jack Reacher", an adaptation of Lee Child's 2005 novel "One Shot" which also starred Rosamund Pike and Robert Duvall.

Cruise is already attached to lead Guy Ritchie's "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", which will feature Cruise's collaboration with "Mirror Mirror" and "The Lone Ranger" actor Armie Hammer. Additionally, the father of Suri Cruise is set to star in Warner Bros.' sci-fi flick "Yukikaze", an adaptation of Chohel Kamayashi's novel series.
