Armenia’s Special Investigation Service gets new chief

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited Friday, May 24, the RA Special Investigation Service (SIS).

President Sargsyan introduced the new head of the SIS to the staff of the Service. He also spoke of the reasons for relieving the former Head of the Service Andranik Mirzoyan of his duties and tasks set before the institution.

“The reason for the dismissal was that he failed to fulfill the task of making the Special Investigation Service a well-established structure,” the President said.

“Here we need people, professionals who are ready to face the truth and take appropriate steps if their colleagues, friends or family members hamper the proper functioning of our state institutions,” he added.

The President also expressed confidence that under the leadership of the newly appointed Head of the RA Special Investigation Service, Vahram Sahinian, the Service will achieve tangible progress, the presidential press office reported.
