During the 9th conference of the World Council of Churches, held in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Armenian Apostolic Church delegates introduced the issue of the Armenian Genocide in 1915 in the agenda. According to a press release of the Cilician House Catholicosate, Catholicos Aram I in his speech noted the need for international recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Armenian delegates also addressed matters of UN reform and unity of Christian confessions, which face new challenges.
