Armenia posts 10,3% economic activity drop in November

Armenia’s economic activity index grew by 0,8% in November 2013 as compared with the 2012 result; a 10,3% drop was posted against October 2013, according to the National Statistical Service of Armenia.

Consumer prices grew by 6,6% in November 2013 as compared with the same period in 2012. 0,9% inflation was reported in November 2013 as compared with October.

The national budget envisages 6,2%, economic growth, and 4±1,5% inflation for 2013.

А 7,1% industry growth was reported in January-November 2013 against the same period in 2012, with a month-on-month drop of 2,9% reported.

A 9% increase was posted in the sector of agriculture in November 2013 against the same period in 2012, with a 9,4% month-on-month drop reported.

In January-November 2013, a 8,5% drop in construction was posted against the same period in 2012, with a year-on-year decrease totaling 7,3%.

Armenia posted a 0,2% trade turnover growth in November 2013 against the same period in 2012, 0,2% increase in the services sector and 7,6% drop in the energy sector reported.

Armenia’s foreign trade turnover totaled $586,8 mln (AMD 237,7 bln) in November 2013 increasing by 11,3% compared with the same period in 2012, according to updated statistical data.

Export amounted to $133,2 mln (AMD 53,9 bln) in November 2013, increasing by 5,9% against 2012 results. The monthly export grew by 4,9%.

A 13,1% increase was recorded in import (against the 2012 results) bringing it to $$453,6 million (AMD 183,8 billion) the RA National Statistical Service reported.

The negative balance of foreign trade turnover amounted to $2 645 mln (AMD 1083,3 bln) in January-November 2013 compared with the same period in 2012.
