Huawei refreshes smartphone line at IFA 2014 trade show

Huawei has expanded its smartphone line at IFA 2014 with the launch of two budget 4G handsets and a metal-bodied phablet, according to Digital Spy.

The Ascend G7 is a 5.5-inch device with a premium design to rival that of HTC's One range, made almost entirely of aluminium.

Powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor and 2GB of RAM, the G7 offers a screen resolution of just 1280 x 720, reflective in its retail price of around €249.

Other features include a 13-megapixel camera on the rear, a 5-megapixel front snapper, 16GB of internal storage, microSD support and a 3,000mAh battery.

The Ascend G7 will be available in grey, silver or gold colour options from November.

Huawei also unveiled a pair of budget 4G handsets at IFA in the form of the Ascend Y550 and the Ascend G620S.

The former is a 4.5-inch phone with a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset, a 960 x 540 display and a price tag of around $160, while the latter steps things up with a 5-inch 1280 x 720 screen and a quad-core processor for around $245.
