LA Councilmember announces Art Contest to commemorate Genocide

Los Angeles City Councilmember Paul Krekorian announced an Art Contest to commemorate the upcoming April 2015 centennial of the Armenian Genocide.

The call for submissions invites all artists and aspiring artists to produce and present original paintings, drawings, photos and digital art inspired by the 100th anniversary of the genocide. The submission deadline is Feb 15.

The winning artwork will be displayed on Los Angeles Dept. of Transportation buses for one month.

The suggested themes for centennial art are: resilience, solidarity, survival, existence, community and progress. Applications can be filed till Feb 15, 2015. The works must be original, unpublished art inspired by the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Paintings, drawings, photos and digital art are welcome. No sculpture or large format pieces will be accepted.
