Aram Atanesian arrested on suspicion of complicity in attempting the life of the Turkmen president Niyazov did not get in touch with the Armenian embassy in Ashgabad. As Armenian consul in the country Gagik Israelian told "Mediamax" agency, "based on the fact that the Turkmen foreign ministry did not make an inquiry at the Armenian embassy, one should suppose that Aram Atanesian is not citizen of Armenia." Answering the Armenian representation inquiry, the Turkmen foreign ministry said it did not posses any official information concerning Atanesian. In the diplomat's words, the Armenian embassy will not undertake any steps in that regard unless corresponding inquiry is made.
