Sony "working on new PS Vita"

A new PlayStation Vita device has reportedly been trademarked by Sony, Digital Spy reveals.

The alleged trademark filing was spotted by an unofficial source earlier this month in Japan (via VG247).

The updated device is said to contain L2 and R2 buttons, as well as a HDMI port.

It is also believed to feature an LCD display instead of an OLED screen.

Sony is yet to comment on the rumours and hasn't announced plans to release a new handheld.

Sony recently introduced a new PlayStation Vita firmware update to improve the PS4 Remote Play experience by allowing users to adjust the framerate up to 60 frames-per-second.
