TURKEY AGREED TO RENDER MILITARY BASES FOR STRIKING IRAQ
The Turkish leadership has agreed to render its military bases for holding military operations against Iraq. At the same time, as reported by AP, the Turkish party stipulated that such an action should necessarily be approved by the UN. Meanwhile, Washington stated that in the course of the negotiations with official Ankara an agreement was reached to realize concrete military planning and training measures in Turkey and invest hundreds of million dollars into the country military bases. "Turkey will be involved in any operation against Iraq to a large extent," - announced Paul Wolfowitz, the US deputy secretary of defense. At the same time he also made it clear that American troops could be based in the country.
