The cargo plane that crashed in South Sudan carried 5 Armenian crew members, Armenian Foreign Minsitery cited the Egypt Embassy as saying.

As Russian news agency Interfax reported earlier, the plane did not belong to any of Russian air companies, suggesting that the aircraft could have belonged to an Armenian company.

Spokesperson for Armenia's civil aviation Ruben Grdzelyan said, however, that the plane was not registered in Armenia, nor was it operated by any Armenian airline. The crashed Antonov An-12 aircraft was operated by Asia Airways, a Tajik company, he said.

At least 41 people were killed as the Russian-built cargo plane with passengers on board crashed on Wednesday, November 4, after taking off from the airport in South Sudan's capital.
