Greek MFA: Eurocommission Decision on Turkey «Basis for Further Talks»
Turkey «should meet all requirements,» including the opening of its ports and airports for Cyprus ships and planes, if it wants the talks on EU accession to continue, stated Greek FM Dora Bakoyannis stated at the NATO Summit in Riga. According to the Greek media, Dora Bakoyannis stated it after the Eurocommission recommended partially suspending talks on Turkey's accession to the EU. Leaders of 25 EU member states will make a decision on the issue during the Summit in the first half of December. In the Greek FM's words, the Eurocommission recommendation is "basis for further talks." EU member states now have to hold series of talks on how to proceed, she said, reports ITAR-TASS.
