Apple has long been tipped to adopt OLED displays for its iPhone range - and we may have just gotten wind about when the switch will happen.
As Digital Spy reports citing Reuters, the Cupertino firm's manufacturing partner Japan Display has revealed that it will begin producing the panels in 2018 - just in time for the iPhone 8, perhaps?
Japan Display, a merger of Sony, Toshiba and Hitachi, did not confirm that its move towards the new screens is in aid of Apple, but analysts have previously tipped the iPhone 8 as the first to sport an OLED display.
Adopting the technology would allow Apple to produce a handset with a thinner and brighter screen, with richer colours and contrast than the current-generation LCD panels.
