Armenia condemns the car bombing in the Turkish capital, Ankara, that left at least 28 people dead and 61 injured, a spokesperson for Armenia’s Foreign Ministry tweeted Thursday, February 18.

“We condemn the Ankara terror attack and extend condolences to relatives of victims,” Tigran Balayan said. A vehicle full of explosives was detonated as military buses were passing by.

The blast happened in an area close to parliament and Turkey's military headquarters.

Turkey on Thursday blamed Kurdish militants for a car bombing targeting a military convoy in Ankara that left 28 people dead, in an attack likely to further increase tensions in neighboring Syria, AFP reports.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said the Ankara attack was carried out by operatives of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in cooperation with the Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG).

But the head of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party on Thursday denied Turkish allegations that the group was involved in the bombing.
