Aronian ties Sinquefield Cup round 5, loses leadership

Levon Aronian gained 3 points after the round 5 of the 2016 Sinquefield Cup. The Armenian grandmaster shares 2-4 spots with Viswanathan Anand and Wesley So.

In round 5 of the Saint Louis-hosted chess tournament, Aronian faced off against Netherlands’ Anish Giri to end the game in a tie.

On August 11, Aronian will play against France’s Maxime Vachier – Lagrave.

Bulgaria’s Veselin Topalov is currently leading the tournament.
