Belgium prioritizes the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the president of the Senate Christine Defraigne told reporters in Yerevan on Tuesday, November 1.

After meeting with the Armenian National Assembly speaker Galust Sahakyan, Defraigne said only a peaceful settlement would bring an end to the suffering of people living in the conflict zone.

"We understand that Armenia faces a hard geopolitical situation, but Europe is always open for dialogue and cooperation,"Defraigne said.

"The Belgian Senate will spare no effort to support Armenia's decisions in this regard."

Sahakyan, in turn, reiterated Armenia's stance on the issue which also leaves no alternative to a peaceful resolution.
