Two-three stages needed to conclude EU-Armenia agreement talks: FM

Six stages of negotiations over the Armenia-European Union framework agreement have been accomplished since the start of talks back in 2015, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said, adding that 2-3 more stages will be needed to conclude the negotiations.

At a press conference following the eighth unofficial meeting of Eastern Partnership Foreign Ministers in Yerevan, Nalbandian hailed the stages accomplished as successful.

The next phase of discussions is slated for December, he added.

"After two or three more stages, I am confident we'll wrap up the talks, with Armenia ready to sign the agreement right away," the country's foreign policy chief said.

"We do understand though that the EU will need an internal coordination process, which we are sure will not take long."

He said that both Armenia and the EU seek to make the document as comprehensive as possible to later reach agreement on a number of issues.
