French FM urges extra sanctions against Iran
French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner once against stated necessity of extra sanctions against Iran. "There is nothing more dangerous than the situation in Iran. This is the most dangerous spot in the world. An Iranian atomic bomb will redouble the problems," Kouchner told Europe 1.
"The worst what can happen is war," he repeated his September 16 statement which aroused indignation of the international community and of Iran, of course.
"As yet the dialogue is underway, we should work at additional sanctions," Kouchner said.
Meanwhile, an official of the French Embassy in Tehran was Wednesday summoned to the Foreign Ministry, where he was handed an official protest over the recent statements by the French FM. The press office, however, did not furnish details.
Earlier, Mr Kouchner apologized to the Iranian authorities for distortion of his statements by media, RIA Novosti reports.
