Number of crimes against Armenians in Russia reduced
The number of crimes against Armenians has reduced in Russia, President of the World Armenian Congress (WAC), Chairman of the Union of Armenians of Russia (UAR), Ara Abrahamyan told a news conference in Yerevan.
The number of crimes has reduced 2.5 time against the index of 2006, according to him.
"There were problems in Moscow, Krasnodar and some other regions, but the WAC regional leaders managed to establish ties with the local self-government and law enforcement and now they are working jointly," Mr Abrahamyan said.
He said he sent a letter to Armenian Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepian and informed him of cases of kidnapping. "We did not want to make a racket. News about kidnappings of Armenians used to come systematically. 2 or 3 Armenians were kidnapped every month. However, there were no incidents during the recent two months," he said.
