Isabelle Huppert has been chosen to serve as the face of the third annual Women in Motion program, which Kering, the global runs May 17-28, The Hollywood Reporter said. In revealing the image, Kering announced, “Her penetrating luxury group, will present at the 70th Cannes Film Festival, which gaze dominates the photograph, which draws on the aesthetics of the silver screen in vibrant homage to the power of women in cinema.”

Launched in 2015 by Kering, in partnership with the Cannes Film Festival, Women in Motion showcases the contributions of women to the film industry, both in front of and behind the cameras. In addition to a series of talks with prominent industry figures, the initiative will present Women in Motion awards to two film industry figures who embody the program’s values at a dinner on May 21. The Women in Motion award winners will, in turn, present the Young Talents Award to a promising film industry professional. That award is worth €50,000 to help support one or several of the winner’s film projects.

Huppert, who most recently was nominated for the best actress Oscar for her performance in Elle, served as president of the Cannes jury in 2009, and she has twice won the festival’s best actress award — for 2001’s The Piano Teacher and 1978’s Violette.

The participants at last year’s Women in Motion talks included Jodie Foster, Juliette Binoche, Susan Sarandon, Geena Davis, Chloë Sevigny, Houda Benyamina, Alice Winocour and Salma Hayek Pinault, who discussed such issues as financing for films directed by women or about women, inequalities in salary and the lack of representation of women onscreen. Davis and Sarandon, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Thelma & Louise, received the Women in Motion awards, while the Young Talents Award was presented to directors Leyla Bouzid, Gaya Jiji and Ida Panahandeh.
