Levon Aronian of Armenia played his eight draw against Michael Adams of England at the 8th round of London Chess Classic on Sunday, December 10. He will face reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen in round 9.
The flagship event is a strong invitational tournament for some of the world's top grandmasters.
With 4.0 points overall, the Armenian grandmaster lags behind Russia's Ian Nepomniachtchi who leads the event with 5.5 points, as well as Fabiano Caruana (United States) and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France) who have earned 5.0 and 4.5 points, respectively.
The final round of the London event will be held on Monday.
Aronian won the Stavanger-hosted Norway Chess tournament in June 2017, the Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz tournament two months later, and snatched the World Chess Cup victory in Georgia in late September. Also, the Armenian grandmaster won the fourth leg of the FIDE World Cup in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
