A delegation of the Council of Coordination of the Armenian Organizations of France (CCAF) led by chairman, Alexis Govciyan and board member Alexandre Couyoumdjian met Tuesday with Edward Nalbandian, Armenia's Ambassador to France, to express their serious concerns over the political situation in Armenia that emerged after the February 19 presidential election, independent French journalist Jean Eckian told PanARMENIAN.Net.
The French Association of Lawyers and Armenian Lawyers (AFAJA) also voiced concerns over the ongoing tensions in Armenia, specifically the arrest of former deputy prosecutor general Gagik Jahangiryan and his brother Vardan on the charge of "illegal detention of weapons" and attempt to "destabilize the situation in the capital"; of Smbat Aivazyan, member of the political board of the Hanrapetutyun (Republic) party, Aram Karapetyan, the leader of the party New Times on the charge of "defamation against the Prime Minister and the Head of State" or Petros Makeyan, representative of the Democratic Party.
AFAJA awaits the judicial authorities to act in accordance with the commitments Armenia undertook by ratifying the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
