Russia offers special status to Transnistria in framework of territorial integrity of Moldova
Russia stands for Moldova's territorial integrity and offers to grant a fixed, special treaty status to Transnistria, Russian Federation Council chairman said in Kishinev.

"I was pleased to see that Moldova appreciated Russian Duma's balanced and pragmatic approach to resolution of conflicts in the post soviet area. Our approach to Abkhazia and South Ossetia differs from that to Transnistria, Sergei Mironov said.

"This approach is conditioned mostly by resumed contacts between Moldovan and Transnistrian leaders. Although no considerable progress has been achieved yet, the fact of establishment of a dialog and formation of working groups is a positive result," Mironov said.

"Russia is willing to contribute to the problem solution but we think that Kishinev and Tiraspol should themselves reach a final agreement," he added, ITAR-TASS reports.
