Situation on Armenia-Azerbaijan border remains relatively calm

The situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan remained relatively calm overnight, Armenian Defense Ministry spokeswoman Shushan Stepanyan said Friday, July 24 morning.

Four ceasefire violations by the Azerbaijani military were registered at night, Stepanyan added.

The Armenian PM's remarks came after renewed violence on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The situation escalated on July 12, with Azerbaijan having launched several unsuccessful infiltration attempts throughout the next week. The Azerbaijani military also used artillery and combat drones to target civilian homes in several border settlements in Armenia. Five servicemen of the Armenian army were killed, while Azerbaijan reported 12 deaths.
