Pompeo urges third parties against "providing fuel" for Karabakh conflict

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has urged countries to refrain from "providing fuel" for the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.

‘’It is a complicated situation on the ground, it’s a complicated diplomatic situation," Pompeo told a press briefing.

"Our view remains, as does the view of nearly every European country, that the right path forward is to cease the conflict, tell them to de-escalate, and every country should stay out, provide no fuel for this conflict, no weapon systems, no support."

Only then, he said, a diplomatic solution that would be acceptable for all can potentially be achieved.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey and Syrian and Libyan mercenaries deployed by Ankara, started a war against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. Foreign and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.
