Armenia was, remains ready for Karabakh peaceful settlement: spokesperson

Armenia was and remains ready for a peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Mane Gevorgyan, a spokesperson for the Prime Minister of Armenia, has said, according to Armenpress.

Her comments came after PM Pashinyan said Wednesday, October 21 that the Karabakh conflict has no diplomatic solution at this stage as Azerbaijan says Baku is not ready for anything else but the capitulation of Karabakh.

"Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized in his speech that Armenia has always been ready for a compromise-based solution to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, and is ready today too. The Prime Minister has also expressed readiness to meet with the Azerbaijani president in Moscow. Armenia was and remains ready for a peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict and highly appreciates the mediation efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries, particularly Russia", Gevorgyan said.

She added that Azerbaijan thinks military power is the key factor for solving the issue and continuously violates the ceasefire agreements.

"Given this, the Armenian people must consolidate their potential for being able to protect their position on the diplomatic arena", the PM's spokesperson said.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey and Syrian and Libyan mercenaries deployed by Ankara, started a war against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. Foreign and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.
