New South Wales parliament recognizes Karabakh's independence

The largest parliamentary chamber in the largest state of Australia, the New South Wales Legislative Assembly has officially recognised the independence of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), the Armenian National Committee of American (ANCA) reports.

Championed by Dr. Hugh McDermott MP: State Member for Prospect and supported by Victor Dominello MP on behalf of the Government, the motion which also condemned the current attacks by Azerbaijan and Turkey against the indigenous Armenians of Artsakh passed 61 votes to 2 votes.

Tanya Davies MP also spoke in favour of the motion, delivering a powerful rebuke to the one speaker against the motion, Linda Voltz.

Several towns and cities around the world too have recognized Karabakh, amid Azerbaijan's aggression against Armenia.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey and Syrian and Libyan mercenaries deployed by Ankara, started a war against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. Foreign and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.
