Putin, Erdogan talk Karabakh ceasefire execution over the phone

Russian and Turkish Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday, November 25 discussed the establishment of a joint ceasefire monitoring center in Nagorno-Karabakh over the phone, the Kremlin's website reveals.

The conversation was initiated by the Turkish side.

"The two presidents discussed in detail the implementation of the agreements reached under the November 9 joint statement of the Russian and Azerbaijani presidents and the Armenian prime minister on Nagorno-Karabakh," the Kremlin said.

"Both sides stressed the importance of all-round implementation of agreements geared to ensure stability and normalize life in the region," the Kremlin said.

The office of the Turkish leader said earlier in the day that during the telephone conversation with Putin, Erdogan expressed hope that the joint center will start operations as soon as possible.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side is returning all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
