Pashinyan stressed Syunik security as "backbone" of Armenia's statehood

The province of Syunik is the backbone of the statehood of Armenia, all measures must be taken to ensure security, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Wednesday, January 13.

"I have said many times that I consider Syunik the backbone of our statehood, we must take all the measures to ensure Armenia's security," Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister noted that a wide range of issues will be discussed at consultations on Wednesday, in terms of what the country is going to do to ensure the security of the republic. Pashinyan also stressed the need to discuss socio-economic and environmental issues in the province.

After the completion of military hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, many villages and towns in Syunik became border settlements. Some communities, meanwhile, lost territories because of the use maps from the Soviet era.
