Video: New border realities in Armenia and life near Goris-Kapan road

The Armenian Defense Ministry has published footage from the road connecting the towns of Goris and Kapan in Syunik Province, roughly one month after parts of the roadway came under Azerbaijan's control.

The reportage prepared by Zinuzh Media reveals the work of the Russian peacekeepers serving at border checkpoints, as well as of the border troops of the Armenian National Security Service deployed along the road to ensure the security of civilians traveling to the south of the country.

Residents of the border village of Davit Bek say, meanwhile, they have no intention to leave their homes, describing everyday life in the village as their own way of protecting the borders of the country.

Davit Back was among the Armenian villages that came under heavy shelling from the Azerbaijani side during the six-week war against Nagorno-Karabakh. Hostilities ended after Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev signed a statement on November 10. Under the deal, the Armenian side has ceded all the seven regions surrounding Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
