Armenia Deputy PM: Karabakh war death toll won't surpass 4000

3439 bodies of Armenian servicemen have been recovered from the Nagorno-Karabakh battle field as of January 20, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan said Wednesday, January 20. The final death toll from the six-week war won't surpass 4000, Avinyan added.

Addressing lawmakers in parliament, the Deputy PM failed to provide the number of missing soldiers, saying that it is still being verified.

According to Avinyan, the number of people with amputated limbs does not exceed 150, and all of them will be getting "prosthetics with the best standards."

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side has returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
