Some shops raise prices for food despite authorities' warnings
Embarrassed by the jump of USD rate, Armenian people rushed to shops to buy up first priority goods. Consumers complain that despite the authorities' warnings, some shops raised prices for food. Sunflower oil, butter, sugar and flour prices went up by 20-30%.

On March 3 evening the exchange rate was fixed at AMD372.11/$1, AMD9.5-11.5/RR, AMD450-490/1 EURO.

Meanwhile, the state commission on economic competition protection (SCECP) called on entrepreneurs to refrain from ungrounded rise in prices.

"The situation is under control and the SCECP will react to any change immediately," the commission said in a statement.

Commission chairman Ashot Shahnazaryan ordered to monitor the staple goods market hourly. The list of goods includes 40 descriptions against previous 25.
