30-meter flagpole waving Armenian tricolor to be erected in Shurnukh

A 30-meter flagpole carrying the Armenian tricolor will be installed in the village of Shurnukh near the border with Azerbaijan on Sunday March 7, according to a statement from the Municipality of Goris, a town in Armenia's Syunik province.

"Border communities are going to continue thriving, regardless of everything. We must protect our home, our culture, our values, our faith," the Municipality said, revealing that the flag will be raised at the initiative of the mayor of Goris, Arush Arushanyan.

In mid-January, a similar flagpole was erected in Kapan, a city and the regional center of Syunik province.

After the completion of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, many villages and towns in Syunik, Armenia's south, became border settlements, with Azerbaijan deploying troops to areas in the immediate vicinity of civilian communities.
