Armenia predicts 319% tourism growth for 2021

Tourism in Armenia is expected to grow by 319% in 2021 year-on-year, Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan told reporters on Friday, March 26.

According to him, a sharp decline in the travel industry was recorded last year, but now the situation has changed, with "many" tourists visiting the country from Iran.

“We know that far more bookings have been made for April. We are planning to get back on track in May, but of course not [to the level registered] in May 2019," Kerobyan added.

The Central Bank of Armenia earlier revised its economic growth forecast for the country in 2021. Its governor Martin Galstyan says Armenia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will expand by 1.4% instead of 2% that was forecast before the start of the year.
