Armenia says its Covid-19 death rate is lower than global average

Coronavirus death rate in Armenia stands at 1.7%, Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan told lawmakers on Wednesday, April 14.

Avanesyan noted that the Covid-19 fatality rate in Armenia is lower than the global average of 2%, according to the estimates of the World Health Organization.

Avanesyan also said the country has reached an agreement with Russia over the delivery of 1 million doses of the Sputnik-V vaccine to Armenia.

The number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Armenia grew by 1075 to reach 205,128 on Wednesday morning. So far, 184,243 people have recovered, 3794 have died from the coronavirus in the country, while 957 others carrying the virus have died from other causes.
