Karabakh: Russian peacekeepers hold practical training exercises

Russian peacekeepers stationed in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) have held practical training exercises, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry reports.

At the training ground, the Russian troops improved their skills of bringing mortars to a combat and marching position. Also, the gunners worked on the coherence and speed of actions, calculations during firing, aiming at a target by coordinates and during changing the weapons.

At the final stage, the servicemen performed firing exercises from closed positions using observed and unobserved targets at various ranges.

A 2000-strong Russian peacekeeping contingent was sent to Karabakh after Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side has returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
