Russian peacekeepers join campaign to benefit the disabled in Karabakh

The Russian peacekeeping contingent has taken part in a humanitarian campaign in Stepanakert, the capital of Nagorno-Karabakh, to transfer essential items and food to people with disabilities, the Russian Defense Ministry reports.

During their first visit, the Russian peacekeepers donated about 400 kg of food packages to the Society of the Deaf. Bella Grigoryan, Chairperson of the Society, thanked the troops for the visit and urged them to make such trips more often to learn more about the problems facing deaf people.

Until the end of July, 2 more similar assistance campaigns for about 100 families with members having various degrees of hearing impairment will be arranged to transfer about 1,200 kg of food.

"As part of the implementation of the trilateral statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia dated November 9, 2020, Russian peacekeepers continue to assist in the restoration of peaceful life in Nagorno-Karabakh," the Ministry said in a statement.
