Young Armenian wrestlers snatch two medals at World Championships

Armenia's youth freestyle wrestling team has secured two medals at the World Junior Championships, currently underway in Ufa, Russia, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport reports.

Lyova Gevorgyan (1235 kg weight category) lost his final bout against Iran's wrestler to snatch silver on Wednesday, August 17, having earlier defeated the Azerbaijani representative with a score of 10:0. Manvel Khndzrtsyan, also representing Armenia and fighting in the 57 kg category, won bronze.

Levik Mikayelyan (61 kg), David Margaryan (65 kg), Narek Harutyunyan (70 kg), Armen Musikyan (74 kg) and Sergey Sargsyan (92 kg) too were part of the freestyle team.

Beginning from Friday, the Greco-Roman team, which is comprised of 10 wrestlers – Garnik Hovhannisyan (55 kg), Suren Aghajanyan (60 kg), Gevorg Sukiasyan (63 kg), Sahak Hovhannisyan (67 kg), Shant Khachatryan (72 kg), Samvel Grigoryan (77 kg), Karen Khachatryan (82 kg), Vigen Nazaryan (87 kg), Hayk Khloyan (97 kg) and Razmik Kurdyan (130 kg) – will join the fight for medals at the World Championships.
