A total of 377,405 doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered in Armenia since the rollout of the vaccination program in the country, Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan said in the parliament on Thursday, September 23. According to her, vaccination rates are still very low in Armenia

Avanesyan failed to mention the exact number of foreigners who have so far received the jabs in the country.

"It is too early to draw conclusions about the rate of immunity among our population, because our vaccination rates are still very low," Avanesyan said.

"We see that cases of infection continue to be registered in countries with 70-80% vaccination rates, but the dynamics of hospitalization and extremely severe course of illness has changed drastically."

Armenia is currently using AstraZeneca, Sputnik-V, Sinopharm and CoronaVac vaccines to inoculate people aged above 18. The vaccination program rolled out across the country in mid-April, with health authorities also setting up mobile vaccination facilities near shopping malls and on major streets in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia.
