An American grandmaster of Armenian descent, Sam Sevian came in the third at 2021 U.S. Championship on Tuesday, October 19.

Wesley So, Fabiano Caruana and Sevian competed in a playoff tiebreaker to decide the Champion after two weeks of competition at the St. Louis Chess Club.

So won both his matches to take home his second consecutive, third total, U.S. Championship. Caruana finished second.
