Pashinyan, Putin discuss Karabakh, Armenian-Turkish dialogue

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh over the phone on Wednesday, March 16.

According to a statement from Pashinyan's office, the two weighed in on the implementation process of the agreements stipulated in the trilateral statements of November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021. Pashinyan and Putin also discussed Armenia's application to the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs regarding the organization of negotiations on a peace treaty.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement earlier that "the Republic of Armenia responded to the proposals of the Republic of Azerbaijan and applied to the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship to organize negotiations on the signing of peace agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan on the basis of the UN Charter, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Helsinki Final Act."

The Armenian and Russian leaders exchanged views on the Armenian-Turkish dialogue, the latest regional developments, and the situation in Ukraine.

Issues related to the forthcoming official visit of the Prime Minister of Armenia to the Russian Federation were also discussed.

The Kremlin said, meanwhile, issues related to the restoration of transport and logistics links in the South Caucasus were also on the table.
